Mother who visited police station found dead with toddler in South Australia
Helena Wright and her 23-month-old daughter were discovered dead in water near Port MacDonnell after Wright had spoken with police the previous day.
South Australia Police disclosed that Helena Wright, 36, visited the Mount Gambier Police Station on 26 July and spoke with officers. The following day, her body and that of her 23-month-old daughter were recovered from the water off Cape Northumberland near Port MacDonnell after their car was found abandoned with the engine running. A welfare check at Wright’s residence earlier on Monday found the house empty.
Her three-month-old son remains missing, and the search was halted after officials determined he could not have survived. Police are forwarding all evidence to the coroner as the incident enters a formal inquest. No further details will be released while the coronial process proceeds.
