Motor City Machine Guns Return to AEW on Live Detroit Collision Show

Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin, the Motor City Machine Guns, made their AEW comeback by opening Thursday’s live Collision from Detroit’s historic Masonic Temple. The broadcast, shown on TNT and HBO Max, saw the former WWE talent celebrate their Detroit roots, with Sabin asking the audience if they expected their return and Shelley delivering a spirited “whatupdoe.” Their appearance marks a reunion after a stint with AEW in 2022 and follows their recent release from WWE in April.
Beyond wrestling, Shelley and Sabin are close friends and members of the band GRPPLNG, which issued a four-track EP last month. The same show also included a cameo by the local rap duo Insane Clown Posse and veteran Rhino, who joined an ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, dousing Roderick Strong, Orange Cassidy and Kyle O'Reilly with ice water to raise awareness for the disease.
