Motorcyclist critically injured after collision with Townsville council waste truck

A male motorcyclist was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries after his bike struck a Townsville City Council garbage truck on Webb Drive in Mount St John.

At approximately 5:51 a.m., a collision between a Townsville City Council waste truck and a male motorcyclist on Webb Drive in Mount St John resulted in the rider sustaining critical injuries, according to Queensland Ambulance Service. The truck involved had recently departed from the council depot located at the end of Webb Drive, Mayor Nick Dametto explained. Queensland Police are conducting an investigation while the road remains shut for an estimated three hours.

Council representatives confirmed that waste collection services will be suspended on Wednesday. This crash occurs a year after an 85-year-old woman was killed by a council garbage truck on a residential street in Bushland Beach in July 2025.
