Multiple shootings and a fatal stabbing reported in heavily regulated Chicago

During the early morning hours, Chicago experienced a series of violent incidents that left six individuals shot and one woman stabbed to death. The stabbing victim was discovered unresponsive around 1:50 a.m. in the 4800 block of North Avers Avenue and was pronounced dead at the scene. At approximately 2 a.m., a 32-year-old man was shot in the temple and killed in the 300 block of South Kilpatrick Avenue, and less than half an hour later a 29-year-old man was fatally hit in a drive-by shooting on South Kedzie Avenue.
