Mumbai law graduate dies after jump, police charge two women with abetment of suicide

A 24-year-old law graduate residing in Bandra East, Mumbai, was found dead after he jumped from the 13th-floor window of his apartment. Police say the fatal act followed a series of threats from a woman he had dated while studying in Bangalore and her older sister, who warned they would lodge a police complaint against him. The youth, who shared the flat with his parents and younger brother and was employed as a law clerk working from home, had shown signs of severe stress, prompting his mother to confront him.

On the day of the incident, after receiving a call from friends confirming the threats, he locked himself in his bedroom and jumped, despite his mother’s attempts to open the door and a crowd gathering below. He was taken to a hospital where doctors declared him dead. Kherwadi Police have now charged the two women with abetment of suicide.
