Mysuru product promoter dies by suicide, blames manager for harassment and denied leave

A 42-year-old woman named Nageshwari, who worked as a product promoter for a marketing agency in a shopping centre on Mysuru's western side, died by suicide on Friday. In a note she alleged that her manager, Dolly, who supervised her remotely from Bengaluru, repeatedly harassed her by making her own up for a mistake actually committed by someone else, threatening to replace her and urging her to quit. Nageshwari also said she was denied a weekly day off and any leave after Dolly assumed managerial duties.

Her husband reported that she had been complaining about Dolly's conduct for about a month before she consumed a poisonous substance and later succumbed in hospital. Vijayanagar police have filed a case and booked Dolly on charges of abetment of suicide under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and an investigation is ongoing.
