Nanny testifies, calling mother of slain children a devoted parent in murder trial

On day seven of Lindsay Clancy’s murder trial, former nanny Elaine Rossi testified that she was hired through a Facebook post in July 2022 and worked three mornings a week caring for baby Callan, noting Clancy’s postpartum struggles but insisting she was a "wonderful mom" who loved her children. Defense attorney Kevin Reddington cross-examined Rossi about statements she made to Massachusetts State Police, and forensic toxicologist Dr. Justin Brower explained that the drug concentrations in Clancy’s blood were consistent with therapeutic use, not a suicidal overdose.

Physician assistant Eitan Negri described treating Clancy’s wrist and neck lacerations after the murders, confirming she was "critically ill" at the time. Judge William Sullivan called a short recess during the toxicology testimony. The prosecution indicated that psychiatrists who treated Clancy before the killings will soon be called, while the defense seeks to focus on the reasons behind the killings rather than guilt. Clancy faces life imprisonment without parole or, if found not criminally responsible, commitment to a state mental-health facility.
