NASA astronaut Chris Williams returned to Earth with Russian cosmonauts Sergey Kud-Sverchkov and Sergei Mikaev after a 241-day stay on the International Space Station.
After departing the International Space Station at 2:03 a.m., NASA astronaut Chris Williams, together with Roscosmos cosmonauts Sergey Kud-Sverchkov and Sergei Mikaev, completed a 241-day, 3,856-orbit mission and landed safely near Dzhezkazgan, Kazakhstan, at 5:27 a.m. CDT. The crew launched on 27 November 2025 aboard Soyuz MS-28 and spent the duration conducting a broad suite of scientific investigations, including research for novel cancer treatments and the refinement of high-performance material production in microgravity.
Williams also carried out two extravehicular activities to prepare power-system upgrades and replace a faulty joint on the station’s Canadarm2 robotic arm. Following medical checks, the astronauts will be flown by helicopter to Karaganda for recovery before Williams heads to Houston’s Johnson Space Center. The mission’s findings are expected to improve terrestrial technologies and support NASA’s Artemis program and eventual human missions to the Moon and Mars.
