NASA Johnson Center Interns Drive Multimedia, AI and Photo Projects for Space Missions
Students interning at NASA's Johnson Space Center are applying design, artificial-intelligence and photography skills to real human-spaceflight work.
At Johnson Space Center, three interns are contributing directly to NASA’s human-spaceflight agenda. Visual-arts major Macie Landon produces graphics, 3-D models and videos that help tell the story of the planned lunar outpost, while also engaging the public at outreach events. AI research intern John Graham Reynolds develops generative-AI systems in the Advanced Operations Concepts Lab, a tool that aided Orion engineers during the Artemis II flight by summarizing technical documents in real time.
Photography intern Morgan Gridley documents crew training, astronaut portraits and mission milestones, with her images appearing in news coverage of the Artemis III crew announcement and a WB-57 aircraft’s role in Texas flood imaging. Each intern highlights the collaborative, interdisciplinary environment at NASA and sees the experience as a pathway to future careers in aerospace. Their work illustrates how creative and technical talent from universities is being integrated into NASA’s mission pipeline.
