NBA forward OG Anunoby, who grew up in London, pledged a private donation to support the refurbishment of Argyle Square Court in Camden, north London. The contribution, kept undisclosed for privacy, joins a £317,000 investment from Camden Council and a £50,000 commitment from City Hall, while the National Basketball Players' Association will add roughly $20,000. The renovation follows a campaign by the community group Argyle Kings, whose advocacy prompted council discussions after one outlet's coverage.
Plans also call for a memorial to Anthony "TJ" Hibbert, a 24-year-old who died in a February 2025 car crash, with his mother expressing that his spirit will live on through the court. Camden Council leader Sagal Abdi-Wali highlighted the project's potential to become a premier basketball hub for the city. The combined funding aims to enhance the court and the surrounding Argyle Square Gardens, furthering the rapid growth of basketball in London.
