NBCUniversal appoints Christopher Halpin as CFO ahead of planned spin-off

NBCUniversal confirmed that Christopher Halpin will assume the chief financial officer role on September 8, reporting directly to Comcast co-CEO Mike Cavanagh. Halpin previously served as COO and CFO at People Incorporated, overseeing finance, accounting, M&A and investor relations, and has held senior positions at the NFL, Providence Equity Partners and Goldman Sachs. The appointment comes as NBCUniversal readies for a spin-off from its parent Comcast, expected within the next twelve months.

Mike Cavanagh praised Halpin’s industry background and collaborative style as vital for the company’s future growth. Existing CFO Randy Culbertson will remain with the firm, transitioning to a new, undisclosed position in the coming weeks. The leadership change is part of broader preparations for NBCUniversal’s upcoming public listing.
