NBPA launches player-owned training complex in Los Angeles
The National Basketball Players Association has opened a newly renovated, player-run practice facility in Playa Vista, California, offering courts, gyms and wellness amenities for NBA athletes.
In Playa Vista, the National Basketball Players Association unveiled a newly upgraded, player-owned practice center built on the former LA Clippers facility. Funding from the union’s licensing revenue funded extensive renovations, new signage and expanded services, creating two full-size courts, eight baskets, a comprehensive weight and turf area, treatment rooms, sauna, steam room, massage and meditation spaces, as well as family rooms and a kitchen.
The NBPA expects roughly 25 NBA players to train on the opening day and plans dozens more sessions before the league’s September training camps, with staff available at all hours. Executives highlighted the "player-first" approach, emphasizing that the venue consolidates all necessary resources for athletes in one location. The center is part of the launch of the PLYRS UNTD brand, which aims to turn player influence into commercial opportunities, and an accompanying app now lists all NBA-accessible training sites.
Why it matters
It gives NBA players a dedicated, player-controlled space for offseason conditioning and recovery.
