New signing Opoku scores decisive long-range winner as Swansea beat Leganes

Swansea City wrapped up their pre-season schedule with a 1-0 victory over Spain's Leganes, courtesy of a spectacular 35-yard goal by new signing Joseph Opoku. The Ghana international, playing only his second match after moving from Zulte Waregem, capitalised on a weak back pass from Gonzalo Lopez and finished calmly past keeper Raul Fernandez. Swansea controlled the game, maintaining long spells of possession and applying a high-press under manager Vitor Matos, while Leganes created early chances, notably Alvaro Tejero’s missed shot.

Additional chances fell to Elijah Just, Marko Stamenic and Adam Idah, but none altered the score. Substitute Zan Vipotnik made his first appearance after missing previous friendlies, and Swansea now turn their attention to the Carabao Cup tie against Birmingham City on 8 August.
