New York woman confronts ex-boyfriend who later faced murder charges

While house-sitting in Hudson Falls in 1996, a young woman was attacked by her ex-boyfriend Shawn Doyle, who entered her home, restrained her, and cut off her ponytail with scissors. She escaped after a friend sensed danger during a phone call and alerted police, though she felt the response was inadequate. Years later, she learned that Doyle had been arrested for the 2005 murder of Lori Leonard, a mother of two from Chittenango, after investigators connected him to the crime through items found in his truck and home.

The discovery prompted a renewed focus on Doyle's pattern of violence, and the survivor shared her story on a national program, emphasizing the importance of speaking out. She expressed hope that her experience would help others recognize and report abusive behavior.
