NFL Sunday Ticket to Return to DirecTV for Bars and Restaurants by 2026
The NFL has reversed its plan to move Sunday Ticket exclusively to streaming in venues, reinstating DirecTV service for commercial establishments through at least the 2028 season.
In March, EverPass revealed a plan to make NFL Sunday Ticket a streaming-only offering for bars, restaurants and other commercial venues, ending its satellite distribution. After industry pushback, a Friday announcement confirmed that DirecTV will resume supplying Sunday Ticket to these establishments beginning in 2026, with the agreement running at least through the 2028 season, according to David Rumsey. Venue operators had voiced worries at a June 10 House Judiciary Committee hearing about insufficient internet capacity and the expense of installing multiple monitors.
The decision to keep DirecTV in the mix eases those operational concerns and prevents fans from experiencing buffering during games. EverPass continues to pursue a long-term streaming transition, but the current pause reflects both business realities and the political climate. This move should help bars and restaurants maintain reliable NFL coverage without major new investments.
Why it matters
Bars and restaurants can keep showing NFL games without costly streaming upgrades or service disruptions.
