Nike rolls out Kobe 5 and Air Force 1 Dodgers-themed sneakers for August launch

Nike has revealed a Kobe 5 Protro and Air Force 1 Protro collection honoring Kobe Bryant’s link to the Los Angeles Dodgers, with release dates in August.

Nike officially introduced a Kobe 5 Protro and Air Force 1 Protro collection that celebrates Kobe Bryant’s enduring connection to the Los Angeles Dodgers. The debut coincided with the Dodgers’ weekend series versus the Boston Red Sox at Dodger Stadium, just before the Mamba Invitational in downtown Los Angeles. The Hyper Royal Kobe 5 Protro showcases wolf-grey accents and bold red baseball-inspired stitching, while the Wolf Grey Air Force 1 Protro adds rush-blue details and Bryant’s iconic No. 8 stitched on the heel.

The partnership also extends to baseball equipment—including batting gloves, cleats, wristbands and catcher’s gear—in matching blue, grey and red hues. Los Angeles fans will receive early access during the Mamba Invitational on Aug. 8-9, with the full collection hitting stores worldwide on Aug. 15 at prices of $180/$190 for the Kobe 5 and $150/$160 for the Air Force 1.

Why it matters

The launch blends basketball and baseball culture, appealing to fans of both sports and expanding Nike's market reach.
