North Carolina woman's husband says investigators see no foul play in Grenada disappearance

Elizabeth Waddell, a 44-year-old North Carolina mother on a three-week Caribbean vacation, was last recorded on security video swimming near Grand Anse Beach on July 22. After she vanished from the camera, witnesses said they saw her farther from shore later that afternoon. Her husband, Cailen Waddell, issued a statement after consulting family, Grenadian authorities, the U.S. Embassy and other officials, saying he believes there was no foul play.

The Royal Grenada Police Force, led by Acting Police Commissioner Randy Connaught, is focusing on reconstructing her final movements and has asked the public for tips. A friend noted the video showed her “floating” before she disappeared from view. The U.S. State Department confirmed it is aware of the case, and the investigation remains ongoing.
