Nottingham Forest, Crystal Palace and Villarreal bid for AC Milan midfielder Youssouf Fofana

Nottingham Forest, Crystal Palace and Villarreal have each lodged a proposal to acquire AC Milan’s midfielder Youssouf Fofana, with Real Betis and Ipswich Town also watching.

AC Milan’s French midfielder Youssouf Fofana, 27, has attracted interest from multiple clubs. Formal bids have been placed by England’s Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace as well as Spain’s Villarreal. In addition, Real Betis and England’s Ipswich Town are reportedly keeping tabs on the player’s availability.

Milan, which is seeking revenue after failing to qualify for the Champions League, is said to be willing to negotiate a transfer fee between €18 million and €20 million. The midfielder joined Milan from AS Monaco in the summer of 2024 for €26 million, and has featured in 52 matches in his first season and 36 in his second, starting 29 of those games.

Why it matters

The potential move could reshape midfield options for several clubs and provide AC Milan with needed funds.
