The NTSB called for mandatory pilot training on loss-of-control recovery and urged wider adoption of flight-data monitoring and stricter load manifest rules. All ten passengers and crew perished, and the aircraft was recovered from an ice floe after disappearing about 30 miles southeast of Nome.
