Nvidia Joins $100 Million NSF Initiative to Deploy AI Hubs on U.S. Campuses

Nvidia announced its participation in the National Science Foundation’s State and Regional AI Infrastructure Hubs program, a $100 million federal initiative aimed at expanding artificial-intelligence capabilities on college campuses nationwide. The plan calls for up to ten hubs, each serving a distinct state or region, and will provide institutions with advanced compute, data and AI tools, as well as training led by Nvidia experts.

The effort builds on the NSF’s earlier National Artificial Intelligence Research Resource pilot, which Nvidia also supported. NSF Chief of Staff Brian Stone, acting as director, highlighted the mission to advance AI for scientific discovery, while White House Office of Science and Technology Policy Director Michael Kratsios praised the hubs as a practical step toward the administration’s AI-focused agenda. An NSF spokesperson noted that the hubs are expected to complement the national AI Research Resource, enabling resource sharing and larger-scale data collaborations. Nvidia’s involvement includes delivering technical guidance and curriculum to help universities develop repeatable, open-access AI programs for students and researchers.
