Ohio Congresswoman shares recovery update after Toledo hit-skip crash

Rep. Marcy Kaptur, the longest-serving woman in the U.S. House, released a video on X to update constituents on her condition after a hit-skip accident in Toledo earlier this month. She explained that both she and staff member Keegan Zimmerman escaped serious injury and are now focusing on rehabilitation. Kaptur expressed gratitude to the fire, rescue, police, and Mercy St. Vincent's medical team for their assistance at the scene.

She also thanked the thousands of messages of support from the local community and beyond, saying they have helped speed her recovery. With the House in August recess, she will not travel back to Washington until next month, allowing more time to heal. The crash happened as the vehicle headed to a church service near the intersection of Detroit and Central avenues.
