One Nation names eight Victorian Senate candidates, including ex-Liberal and anti-woke animator

One Nation announced eight candidates for the Victorian upper house, featuring a former Liberal official, the creator of Pauline Hanson’s anti-woke film, and a former police officer who worked on Daniel Andrews’ protection detail.

Pauline Hanson held a press conference to reveal One Nation’s eight candidates for the Victorian Legislative Council ahead of the November state election. The roster features former Liberal administrative committee member Colleen Harkin, who left the party in June and directs education at the Institute of Public Affairs, as well as Mark Nicholson, co-founder of the studio that produced Hanson’s satirical anti-woke animation.

Geelong councillor and ex-police officer Chris Burson, who previously served on Daniel Andrews’ personal protection team, also joins the ticket. Warren Pickering, the party’s Victorian president who led the 2022 campaign, will head the eastern Victoria ticket, and incumbent MP Rikkie-Lee Tyrrell will run again in northern Victoria. Additional candidates include human-resources manager Fiona Lopez, lawyer Aaron Sandford and volunteer Natalie Adams covering the remaining regions.

The timing coincides with Premier Ben Carroll’s legislation to eliminate group voting tickets, a change that could aid One Nation if its poll numbers remain strong. Hanson emphasized that the party will field candidates in every electorate, aiming to unseat the Labor government.
