OpenAI absorbs presentation startup NextSlide to boost ChatGPT capabilities

OpenAI has taken over NextSlide, integrating its team into the ChatGPT product line.

NextSlide confirmed that its team has joined OpenAI, where they will contribute to the development of ChatGPT. According to founder Ahmed Beshry, the startup’s tool was designed to convert prompts, notes, documents or research into refined, editable presentations, with the broader mission of making visual communication more accessible. By becoming part of OpenAI, the group will continue pursuing that same objective by building AI products that help users create and convey ideas.

The transaction took place earlier this year, though the public notice arrived a few months later, and no monetary terms were released. Beshry also highlighted his prior experience as a co-founder of Caper AI, a smart-checkout venture acquired by Instacart in 2021. The move signals OpenAI’s ongoing effort to broaden its AI-driven productivity offerings.

Why it matters

The deal expands OpenAI's portfolio, adding AI-powered presentation tools to its suite of services.
