Outernet launches app that turns saved online posts into real-world outings
Co-founders Danielle Egan and Athena Leong have released Outernet, an iOS app that converts bookmarked social-media posts into organized offline activities.
Danielle Egan and Athena Leong, known for staging citywide games and quirky social events, introduced Outernet, a mobile platform that transforms saved online content into actionable real-world plans. By sharing a post from TikTok, Instagram or a website, the app’s AI pulls relevant information and organizes it into a chronological feed, separate tabs for timeless locations, and a map view. It also pushes nudges and lets users stamp visited spots, with future gamified passport features in development.
Launched two months ago on iOS, the invite-only service reports profitability through a $6.99-per-month premium subscription and a user base of roughly 18,000. The founders are courting investors who share their playful ethos, while an Android waitlist remains open.
Why it matters
Outernet offers a new way to bridge digital inspiration and offline experiences, potentially reshaping how people plan local activities.
