Ozora Festival Ends Early After Two Attendees Die Amid Heat Wave
The Ozora psychedelic trance festival in Hungary will close a day ahead of schedule after an American man fell to his death and a Hungarian woman suffered a fatal heart attack.
The Ozora Festival, one of the world’s largest psychedelic trance gatherings, will conclude a day early after two separate fatalities. On August 1, police reported that a 45-year-old American man climbed onto a set piece surrounding the main stage and fell, an incident they suspect was a deliberate self-harm. Earlier that morning, a 39-year-old Hungarian woman experienced a medical emergency, probably triggered by the intense heat, and could not be revived.
Festival officials posted on Facebook that all music programmes will stop at midnight, including those on the Pumpui stage, which had been slated to run into the early hours of August 3. Hungary has been under its strongest heat warning since late July, with temperatures reaching 40 °C over the weekend. The abrupt ending reflects concerns for attendee safety amid the extreme weather.
