Palestinian Press Body Records 108 Assaults on Journalists in West Bank July

In July, the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate’s Freedoms Committee logged 108 separate attacks on Palestinian journalists and media workers in the occupied West Bank, carried out by Israeli security forces and settlers. Violations included detentions, beatings, interrogations, obstruction of reporting, and the confiscation or destruction of equipment, creating a hostile environment for news gathering. The most common violation was brief detention, recorded in 58 instances, while settlers were responsible for 11 physical assaults.

Israeli forces deployed stun grenades and tear gas in 12 cases, leading to suffocation, and six journalists suffered beatings that caused bleeding injuries. Additional incidents involved raids on journalists’ homes or offices, the closure of one outlet, and expulsions from the Al-Aqsa Mosque area. The syndicate urged authorities to allow journalists to work without threats and demanded accountability for those responsible.
