PCB threatens two-year bans for ex-players joining unsanctioned Zambian league

The Pakistan Cricket Board warned that former Pakistan cricketers who joined the Asian Legends League in Zambia without prior approval may be subject to disciplinary action. Over a dozen retired players had enrolled for the tournament, which the Zambia Cricket Union said was not sanctioned by its governing body. The PCB stated it has taken "serious notice" and outlined penalties that include a two-year ban on receiving any PCB No Objection Certificate for overseas events and a two-year ineligibility for coaching, consultancy, mentoring or any role with the PCB and the Pakistan Super League.

Players such as Mohammad Hafeez, Sohail Tanvir and Umar Akmal traveled to Lusaka but opted out after discovering the required ICC clearances were absent. The board emphasized that all current and former Pakistani cricketers must secure the necessary approvals before participating in foreign competitions.
