The agreement spans eight years with an average annual value of $4 million, which is the maximum length allowed by the league’s collective bargaining agreement. Koivunen, 23, arrived in Pittsburgh as part of the Jake Guentzel trade with Carolina in 2024 and has recorded two goals and 14 points in 47 NHL games to date.
