Pierce College suspends football program for 2026 season due to roster shortfall

Pierce College, a 75-year-old public institution in Woodland Hills, confirmed on Tuesday that its football program will be suspended for the 2026 season after a summer-long review showed the roster fell short of the size needed for safe competition. The college said the Brahmas, members of the Southern California Football Association’s Pacific Conference, could not meet the required player count. In its statement, the school expressed regret for the impact on student-athletes, alumni, and supporters, and pledged to assist players seeking opportunities at other colleges.

Coordination with the Southern California Football Association and neighboring programs such as Victor Valley College, Santa Monica College and Grossmont College will aim to minimize academic disruption. The hiatus will remain in effect while administrators assess the program’s future, reaffirming a commitment to student safety and academic success.
