Police encounter in Bulandshahr kills wanted rape-murder suspect after gunfire

In Bulandshahr, a police checking operation turned violent when two motorcyclists fired at officers, leading to an exchange of gunfire. A Sub-Inspector of the SWAT team and a Constable were wounded, while two other officers' bullet-proof jackets were hit. Police fire struck one of the suspects, who was taken to a community health centre, then to the district hospital where he was declared dead.

The deceased was identified as Monu, a wanted suspect in the rape and murder of a minor girl, with a Rs 50,000 bounty on his capture. The second motorcyclist escaped the scene; investigators recovered a pistol, live cartridges, spent casings and the motorcycle, and a search for the fugitive is ongoing.
