Police probe disappearance of Pakistani and Ugandan athletes after Glasgow Commonwealth Games

Following the close of the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Police Scotland announced an inquiry into the whereabouts of multiple athletes from Pakistan and Uganda. Uganda's NBS Sport indicated that four of its six boxers were absent before the scheduled departure, with one athlete allegedly planning to apply for asylum. Pakistan Today reported that boxer Qudratullah did not appear for the return flight; he was last seen in his hotel room around 2 a.m., and his passport and ticket remain with the team manager.

Police are working with the Home Office to determine the reasons behind the disappearances. The incident echoes similar cases after previous Games, where dozens of participants went missing or sought asylum. Pakistan's contingent left the event with a single bronze medal, its lowest haul since 1998.
