Police say suspect was shot before stabbing officer in neck at Elizabeth East
The South African Police Commissioner reported that a man was shot by officers before he stabbed a police officer in the neck during a volatile incident in Elizabeth East.
Grant Stevens, the SA Police Commissioner, said officers opened fire on a suspect who later used a knife to wound an officer in the neck. He commended the injured officer and her partner for their actions amid what he described as a highly dangerous situation. The event is now being examined under a Major Crime investigation and a Police Commissioner's Inquiry.
