Polish forces discover crater and debris after unknown object vanishes from radar amid Russian attacks
Polish authorities found a 10-meter crater and scattered wreckage in a field after an unidentified object disappeared from air-traffic radars during Russia's strikes on Ukraine.
As Russian missiles struck targets across Ukraine, including Kyiv and Lviv, Poland scrambled fighter jets to protect its skies. Radar operators recorded an unidentified object traveling westward before it dropped out of detection at 3:40 a.m. The armed forces' operational command sent a Mi-24 helicopter to investigate, which pinpointed a probable impact zone near the village of Tarnawa-Kolonia in the Lublin region. Police arriving on the scene heard a loud bang and found a crater roughly 10 metres across, with fragments of the object scattered in a field about two kilometres from the nearest dwellings.
The interior ministry confirmed the dimensions of the crater, and sirens briefly sounded in Lublin as a warning against further Russian strikes. The incident underscores heightened tension along Poland's eastern border amid the ongoing conflict.
