At his New Delhi residence, Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed the Indian athletes who earned medals at the Commonwealth Games held in Glasgow. The gathering showcased gold-medallist boxer Sakshi Chaudhary, who thanked the Prime Minister for the invitation and described him as humble. In response, Modi said, “Jo khelega, woh khilega,” and encouraged the team to keep cheering for the country, ending with three chants of “Bharat Mata ki Jai.”
India concluded the Games with 13 gold, 17 silver and nine bronze medals, placing fourth overall despite fielding only 122 athletes compared with 210 in Birmingham 2022. Gulveer Singh was the sole double-medallist, and the event also marked the handover of the Commonwealth Games flag to India for the 2030 centenary edition in Ahmedabad.
