Prime Minister Modi opens Viveka Smaraka youth centre in Mysuru

Prime Minister Narendra Modi presided over the inauguration of the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Youth Centre - Viveka Smaraka in Mysuru, Karnataka. Constructed by the Sri Ramakrishna Ashrama, the building occupies the location where Swami Vivekananda lodged during his 1892 visit, a stay that inspired his involvement in the 1893 World Parliament of Religions in Chicago. Modi described the centre as a catalyst for young Indians to adopt ideals of nation-building, public service, and character development.

He connected the centre’s mission to the National Education Policy, which aims to equip youth for 21st-century demands. The prime minister also called for support of Indian culture by buying locally made products, citing Mysuru silk and handicrafts as exemplary gifts. The ceremony highlighted both historical heritage and contemporary educational goals.
