Pro-Israel students rally in Washington as campus socialism fuels rightward shift

Speakers including University of Michigan senior Addison Stone and UC Berkeley student Dylan Goldman argued that Democratic lawmakers embracing socialist candidates with hostile views on Israel risk driving Jewish Democrats toward conservatism.

The summit, organized by the Israel on Campus Coalition, brought more than a thousand student leaders for training, networking, and strategies to counter campus antisemitism. Organizers noted incidents of flag burnings and online harassment, describing the environment as increasingly hostile. The gathering also referenced recent electoral outcomes, such as Abdul El-Sayed’s win in Michigan’s Democratic Senate primary, underscoring the broader clash within the Democratic Party. Senator John Fetterman, speaking at the event, defended his support for Israel and criticized Iran, linking the issue to broader American values.
