Progressive poll shows mixed support for House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries in key districts

Progressive group A Fight Worth Having (AFWH) commissioned a poll of likely voters in three Democratic strongholds—New York’s 15th, Arizona’s 4th and Missouri’s 1st districts—to gauge sentiment toward House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries. While 61% of respondents in the New York district backed Jeffries, only 45% in Arizona and 43% in Missouri said he should stay, with the remainder undecided. Exposure to strongly worded progressive critiques reduced his support across all three areas.

Favorability scores remained above 50% in each district, yet national progressives such as Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Bernie Sanders outperformed him. Experts cautioned against over-interpreting a single poll, noting Jeffries still enjoys substantial backing within the caucus. The findings reflect growing tension between the party’s establishment and its left wing as Democrats eye a potential House majority in November.
