Puntland troops overrun federal camp in Galkayo, seize weapons and detain hundreds

Puntland's armed forces carried out a pre-planned strike on a camp near Galkayo's airport that had been occupied by federal government soldiers and used for moving arms and equipment. Video circulating on social media showed men identified as Puntland troops securing the facility, while police statements confirmed the arrest of over 100 people and the capture of firearms, ammunition, police gear and vehicles.

Residents of Galkayo heard mortar rounds, some landing in residential zones, during fighting that lasted over an hour, but exact casualty figures were not provided. After the clash, opposing forces reportedly withdrew to southern Galkayo. Neither the federal government nor the rival commanders have publicly responded to the incident.
