Puregold Co-founders Lucio and Susan Co Reach Fourth Spot on Philippines Rich List

Lucio and Susan Co, founders of Puregold Price Club, entered the Philippines’ top five wealthiest individuals at rank four with a $3.3 billion fortune, a 10% rise from the previous year.

Lucio and Susan Co, the founders of the Puregold Price Club retail chain, have risen to the fourth position on the Philippines’ richest ranking, holding a combined $3.3 billion fortune, up 10% year-over-year. Puregold, now overseen by their son Ferdinand, reported a 24% increase in net profit to 3.3 billion pesos for the first quarter of 2026, on revenue of 59 billion pesos. The company’s growth strategy includes frequent promotional campaigns that have helped it outpace rivals such as the Swiss discount chain Dali.

From a single outlet opened in 1998, Puregold now operates close to 800 stores, including warehouse clubs and quick-service pizza venues. Beyond retail, the Co family has diversified into finance, real estate, and energy, and in May completed the purchase of PrimeWater Infrastructure, a water-service provider serving 161 municipalities, from property magnate Manuel Villar. Their holdings also encompass The Keepers Holdings, which imports liquors and wines.

Why it matters

The Co family's wealth surge reflects Puregold’s strong performance and expanding influence across retail and utilities in the Philippines.
