Rajya Sabha member blames Punjab government for six exam paper leaks in five years

Swati Maliwal, a member of the Rajya Sabha, accused the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab of failing to curb examination fraud, noting six major paper leaks in the past five years and a massive cheating episode during a pharmacy officer recruitment exam on July 19. She claimed that Arvind Kejriwal, described as acting like a "super CM" in Punjab, has remained silent on the matter and alleged he founded and financed the "Cockroach Janata Party," which ran extensive paid social-media campaigns demanding accountability in education.

On the same day, Punjab Police dismantled an alleged inter-state cheating network, arresting seven alleged masterminds and holding 28 candidates, while recovering dozens of wireless cheating devices. Police investigations reported no sign of a question-paper leak or involvement of any government official. Opposition figures, including Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, contested Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s assertion that no competitive exam papers have been leaked during the AAP’s tenure. The controversy underscores ongoing political tension over education integrity in the state.
