Rand Paul Dodges Questions on McConnell's Health While Targeting Fauci

In a recent interaction on Capitol Hill, Kentucky Senator Rand Paul refused to answer questions about the health status of senior colleague Mitch McConnell, who has not appeared publicly since a June medical emergency. Paul has spent weeks pressing former COVID czar Anthony Fauci to appear before the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, demanding greater openness. Governor Andy Beshear called on McConnell to issue a direct video confirming his ability to serve, or to resign, and urged Paul to seek answers as well.

Beshear labeled Paul’s focus on Fauci as a partisan ploy, noting the inconsistency in demanding transparency from one official but not the other. Paul brushed off the governor’s appeal, calling it a campaign maneuver, and left without responding to reporters. No comment was obtained from Paul after the exchange.
