The card appeared at the Boca Cards Store in Boca Raton, Florida, where a collector aware of Matthew Allen's $6.5 million bounty contacted him directly. Negotiations concluded with the card fetching $11 million, far surpassing the prior record for an Ohtani card of $3.365 million.

Allen, speaking to one outlet, explained that the card held personal significance and justified the expense. This transaction follows the $12.932 million sale of a Michael Jordan-Kobe Bryant dual Logoman card, the most expensive card ever sold. The deal highlights the soaring market for rare sports memorabilia and suggests future valuations could climb dramatically.
