Ring launches 2K Peephole Cam, a drill-free smart doorbell upgrade

Ring introduced the Peephole Cam 2K, a new doorbell camera that fits into a door’s peephole without drilling and records in 2K resolution.

Ring unveiled the Peephole Cam 2K, an updated smart doorbell designed to snap onto a standard door peephole without the need for drilling or permanent wiring. Building on the 2019 Door View Cam, the new model upgrades video capture from 1080p to 2K and incorporates refined motion-tracking capabilities while offering a more streamlined exterior. The device consists of two halves that join through the peephole: the outer portion contains the camera, doorbell button, speaker and microphone, while the inner side holds electronics and a removable battery advertised to provide roughly 120 days of operation per charge.

Users must rely on a phone or compatible smart display for live viewing, as there is no built-in screen. Real-time motion alerts can be customized to ignore certain zones, such as passing traffic, and the product ships for $99.99 on preorder, with delivery expected later this month. Extended features like 180-day video storage and package-detection alerts require a separate Ring Protect subscription.
