Roommate arrested after missing Yucca Valley man found buried at his home

Police arrested Cris Jones on a murder charge after Daniel Howard Joslin’s body was discovered in a shallow grave behind their Yucca Valley residence.

After Daniel Howard Joslin vanished on June 26, authorities opened a missing-person case on July 3. Initial leads suggested he might have traveled to Oregon, but no evidence supported that theory. A search warrant executed on July 29 at the Yucca Valley house he shared with roommate Cris Jones revealed a shallow grave in the backyard containing human remains.

The San Bernardino County Coroner confirmed the remains belonged to Joslin. Detectives secured an arrest warrant for Jones, and with help from the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office, located him in Oregon, where he was arrested on August 2. He is being held on a murder charge while awaiting extradition to California. The homicide investigation remains active, with motive undisclosed.
