Royal family member alleges balaclava-clad stalker pursued his car near Sandringham
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor testified that a balaclava-wearing man chased his vehicle near his Norfolk estate, prompting a stalking case against Alex Jenkinson.
In a Westminster Magistrates' Court hearing, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor described a May 6 incident near his Sandringham home where a man wearing a balaclava chased his car after spotting a loose dog. Suffolk Police have applied for a civil Stalking Protection Order against the alleged stalker, 39-year-old Alex Jenkinson of Stowmarket, and a criminal trial is scheduled for 21 December. The court heard portions of the duke’s witness statement, noting he initially thought a nearby vehicle belonged to photographers.
Jenkinson, who was blocked from entering the courtroom because he brought his dog, claimed the animal was a support dog for his ADHD, though no documentation was provided. He also denies a public order offence against the duke and a separate charge of threatening Stephen Terry in King's Lynn on 5 May. While on conditional bail, Jenkinson is prohibited from approaching Sandringham, Buckingham Palace, Balmoral, Windsor, Highgrove, or contacting the duke.
