RSS volunteers aid over 40,000 families amid Assam floods
The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh reported that its members helped more than 40,000 flood-affected families in three districts of Assam.
In response to recent flooding in eastern Assam, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh said its volunteers, supported by affiliated bodies, have been active in rescue and relief work across Sivasagar, Charideo and Jorhat districts. A total of 1,912 volunteers have assisted 40,168 families in 378 villages, rescuing nearly 200 people and delivering essentials like cooked meals, drinking water and medicines. Relief supplies have included rice, sugar, dry food, baby food, biscuits, salt, potatoes, clothing, bedding and mosquito-repellent coils.
In partnership with the National Medicos Organization, the RSS organized more than 50 medical camps for the affected population. Volunteers also focus on post-flood recovery, helping clean homes, provide cattle feed, and support farmers with paddy transplantation after waters receded.
