Runner collapses and dies during Karnataka's Monsoon Marathon at Nandi Hills

During the second edition of the Monsoon Marathon held at Nandi Hills, 31-year-old Amandeep Singh Jagade collapsed while descending the hill around 9:10 a.m., roughly halfway through the 21 km distance. He was taken first to a medical camp on the hill, then to Sri Madhusudan Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Hospital in Muddenahalli, where doctors could not revive him. Nandi Giridhama police have registered a case of unnatural death and are waiting for his relatives to conduct a post-mortem examination.

Fellow runner V Kamalanath recalled that Amandeep seemed fit and was chanting patriotic slogans before the incident, noting his recent victory in a Hyrox competition. Organisers said participants signed waivers and provided prior race experience details. The event was coordinated with the Karnataka Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports and local district administrations.
