Sadullapur residents still wait for promised roads and drainage, push to rename village

In 2015, Sadullapur was designated as one of fourteen “smart villages” in Greater Noida, with assurances of reliable water, paved roads and a drainage network. Eleven years later, the 7,000-strong community still navigates unpaved, mud-filled streets, collapsed culverts and absent manhole covers, and reaching the nearest private hospital can take an hour due to traffic and poor roads. Villagers have written to the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority for years without success, and a recent petition to rename the village “Bharatpur” has been submitted to the state government to spur investment.

The state has forwarded the request to local police and the sub-divisional magistrate, and the revenue department is seeking a recommendation, but a no-objection certificate from GNIDA remains pending. GNIDA officials cite monsoon delays and a religious procession route for postponing three slated development projects, and acknowledge awareness of the renaming proposal.
