Salad and Go declares Chapter 11 and shuts all stores today

Fast-casual salad chain Salad and Go filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and announced the immediate closure of every location.

Salad and Go, a made-to-order fast-casual chain offering salads, wraps and breakfast items, entered Chapter 11 bankruptcy on August 4 and confirmed that every outlet will cease operations today. The announcement, shared via a Facebook post, described the day as “bittersweet” and recalled the brand’s 13-year mission to provide affordable, healthy food. Founders Tony and Roushan Christofellis, who exited the business after selling it to an investment firm in 2021, clarified that their other restaurant, Angie’s, will continue operating.

The chain blamed sustained pressure on consumer demand, past growth challenges and rising expenses, adding that a Cyclospora outbreak in July, though not linked to the brand, eroded confidence across the sector. Earlier leadership changes included hiring former Wingstop CEO Charlie Morrison in 2022 and former Krispy Kreme CEO Mike Tattersfield in 2025, the latter of whom closed 40 Texas and Oklahoma sites. Customers expressed surprise on social media, recalling the chain’s popularity and low-price drive-thru model.

Why it matters

The closure eliminates a nationwide fast-casual option and reflects broader challenges for affordable healthy-food concepts.
