WestEnd Films has finalized a North American theatrical distribution agreement with Samuel Goldwyn Films for the upcoming Christmas comedy “Merry Christmas Aubrey Flint,” set to open in U.S. and Canadian cinemas this holiday season. The deal follows earlier sales of the film to the U.K. and Ireland by Signature Entertainment at Cannes, as well as to Spain (Alfa), Portugal (Nos), Bulgaria (Beta) and Israel (United King), with further sales planned at the Toronto Film Festival.
Directed by Jack Spring and scripted by Chris Boyle-McQuarry, the movie boasts an ensemble cast that includes John Bradley, Celia Imrie, Richard E. Grant, Adjoa Andoh and Jim Broadbent among others. Its plot centers on Aubrey Flint, a reclusive model-soldier painter sentenced to community service at a struggling retirement home, where he must helm a resident-led staging of “A Christmas Carol,” confronting his grief and discovering holiday spirit.
Production credits list Andy Brunskill’s SUMS Film & Media, Shush Films, BYUtv and executive producers such as Damian Jones, Paul Grindey and others. Maya Amsellem of WestEnd and Miles Fineburg of Samuel Goldwyn expressed enthusiasm for the film’s warm, comedic appeal to families during the festive period.
